Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened almond butter
  • 1 serving vanilla protein powder whey or plant-based
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk

Instructions

  • Pour the unsweetened almond milk directly into the bottom of the blender pitcher, then squeeze in the fresh lemon juice.
  • Measure out the chia seeds and the unsweetened almond butter, adding them directly into the liquid along with one serving of the vanilla protein powder.
  • Add the cup of frozen mixed berries on top of the other ingredients in the blender pitcher.
  • Secure the lid tightly, start the machine on a low speed, then gradually increase to high and blend for sixty to ninety seconds until completely uniform and creamy.
  • Turn off the blender and pour the thick, vibrant beverage immediately into a tall serving glass to enjoy.

Notes

• Adjusting Consistency: For a thinner consistency, splash in an extra tablespoon or two of almond milk and pulse briefly. To make it thicker, add a few extra frozen berries or ice cubes.
• Storage: Leftovers can be stored in a tightly sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to twenty-four hours. Shake vigorously or re-blend with a splash of liquid before drinking, as the chia seeds will thicken the mixture over time.
• Nut Allergies: Swap almond milk for oat or soy milk, and replace the almond butter with sunflower seed butter or tahini.
