Ingredients

  • The Dry Spice Blend
  • 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse sea salt
  • To Serve
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic pressed or finely grated
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

  • Place the crushed red pepper, black pepper, oregano, basil, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, and sea salt into a small mixing bowl.
  • Stir the dry spices thoroughly until the mixture is uniform.
  • Add the freshly pressed or grated garlic cloves into the herb mixture and stir to coat the garlic in the spices.
  • To serve, place approximately one tablespoon of the prepared herb and garlic mixture into a shallow dipping plate.
  • Pour about one-third cup of high-quality extra virgin olive oil over the herbs.
  • Gently swirl the ingredients together and allow the mixture to sit for a few minutes to let the dried herbs soften and infuse the oil.

Notes

• Storage: The dry herb mixture (without fresh garlic or oil) can be stored in an airtight jar for up to six months.
• Freshness: Once fresh garlic is added to the oil, it should be consumed within the same day for safety and flavor.
• Quality: Always use a high-quality, cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil for the most authentic restaurant taste.
• Customization: For a milder dip, feel free to reduce the amount of red pepper flakes.
